Becoming Highly Qualified
Paraprofessionals play important roles in our schools. Those paraprofessionals assigned to providing instructional assistance in a Canyons School District Title I school are required to have a high school diploma (or equivalent) AND one of the following:
An Associate Degree
- 48 semester hours or 60 quarter hours of college credit
- Passing score (460) on the Praxis ParaPro Exam
Praxis ParaPro Assessment

- The ParaPro Assessment consists of 90 multiple-choice questions that measure skills & knowledge in reading, writing and math and the ability to apply those skills & knowledge when assisting in classroom instruction. The test is completed online by appointment only through the CSD Department of Federal & State Programs (see below).

- Yes, test takers have two and a half hours to complete the test.

- A passing score for Utah is a 460. If you score below that, you must wait 28 days before taking the test again.
