Trevor Nelson: Board Chair

Trevor Nelson grew up in the Clinton area and is excited for the opportunity to give back to the community, especially as his children started attending Voyage in 2018.  Apart from volunteering time at the school, Trevor currently works in the Human Resources field.  Trevor graduated from Utah State University with Bachelors of Science degrees in Human Resources and Economics, a MBA, and a Masters of Science in Human Resources.  Trevor also enjoys spending time with his wonderful wife and 4 amazing kids.

Danielle Pedersen: Board Vice Chair

Danielle Pedersen currently works for the Utah State Board of Education as an Adult Education Specialist. In this role, she oversees grants, coordinates professional development, and provides technical support for adult education programs throughout the State of Utah. Her prior job experience includes overseeing the high school completion program at Clearfield Job Corp and acting as the Educational Director for the Ogden and Layton locations of Sylvan Learning Center. Although most of her experience in education has been at the secondary level, she is an advocate for education at all levels and has seen the impact that family literacy can have. She has been a Voyage parent for four years and anticipates being around for many more years.

Lynsie Daley: Board Secretary

Lynsie Daley is a parent at Voyage Academy. She believes in the mission of expeditionary learning at Voyage and has personally seen the benefits as her students have had many valuable experiences and gained important life skills through this style of learning. She is a senior data analyst and team lead at Intermountain Healthcare. She has extensive experience in technical projects and presenting and public speaking. She is the founder a caregiver resource group called Women in Analytics at Intermountin Healthcare, which was the first of it’s kind. She is excited to use her skills and talents to help Voyage Academy. She loves the school community and is excited to help push forward the mission and vision of our wonderful school.

Evan Nelson: Board Trustee

Evan Nelson and his wife are the parents to four amazing daughters. They have lived in Clinton for several years and love the community. Evan graduated from Weber State with both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in accounting. He enjoys spending time with his family, he loves the outdoors, and enjoys reading and golfing. Evan’s family have been a part of Voyage for a few years and they have loved their experience with the school.

Courtnie Moore: Board Trustee

Courtnie Moore and her husband are the parents to three spunky boys and one fun dog. She loves to cook, swim, camp, watch movies, and has recently discovered a love of gardening. Courtnie has a degree in business finance from Weber State University with a minor in mathematics. After graduation, she was hired as a business manager and worked with multiple charter schools managing the financial aspects of each school. After taking time off to focus on her kids, she was hired as a grant specialist for Red Apple Finance where she helps directors write and submit reimburseable grants with the State of Utah.

Janae Howell: Board Trustee

Janae Howell is excited to serve on the board at Voyage Academy. She loves education and feels it is important for students to love to learn. She has a Bachelor of Science with a math and chemistry major and also has a Masters degree in Education Instruction and Curriculum. She currently holds a teaching license and has worked at Northridge High School for the past 15 years. She has been involved in many aspects of the community and school opportunities which include community council, club advisor, and department head. Education is Janae’s passion and she loves to learn and grow each year. She lives in Clinton with her husband and three children who love attending Voyage and are proud to be Vikings.

Financial Oversight

In accordance with Utah Code Ann. Section 53G-7-309, the governing board receives a budget report each month. This budget report includes the following information: (i) the amounts of all budget appropriations; (ii) the disbursements from the appropriations as of the date of the report; and (iii) the percentage of the disbursements as of the date of the report. The current budget report is available for public review and previous reports are available by request to njones@voyageacademyutah.org

Stakeholders of Voyage Academy may report concerns of fraud, waste, abuse, or non-compliance directly to the School’s administration or board.  Alternatively, stakeholders may report such concerns directly to the Utah State Board of Education through their Public Education Hotline at (801) 538-7813.  Full contact information for the Public Education Hotline can be found here

The Governing Board oversees the financial health of Voyage Academy. The Board has an Audit Committee comprised of the board president and the board financial coordinator. All budgets are approved by the Governing Board and published on the Utah Public Finance Website.
